What to Expect from Coaching or Counselling
Counselling can be challenging. At times it can feel like an arduous uphill climb, yet you might discover that you feel encouraged, supported and nurtured and feel hopeful of the future. Some people discover hidden strengths and resources which they find empowering.
Maybe you can begin to imagine how it would feel to have increased confidence.
You may gain a renewed sense of purpose; a sense that it is possible to feel some control over your life and even improve the way you relate to people.
We can never be sure about what lies ahead, but regaining control over how we choose to live and work means that we are more able to manage the unexpected when it does happen.
I will provide the space for you to feel and express your feelings safely and then support you to find new ways of solving problems and meeting your own needs.
Some of my clients have also found it helpful to learn new skills like assertiveness, stress management and handling difficult emotions within the counselling process.
Other clients have found that relaxing deeply, re-establishing restful sleep patterns, addressing work–life balance, re-engaging with life and achieving goals and reviewing their beliefs and perceptions enables them to rise more successfully to the inevitable challenges that life brings. You may discover that this is true for you too.
My aim is to empower you to use your own natural resources in new and creative ways so that you can be free to choose how you will live your life.
It is the journey of personal discovery that keeps us truly alive.
What can you expect from me?
You may not yet believe that you can make changes in your life or that the way you feel right now will ever be different. Some people can’t imagine life being any other way but it doesn’t stop them hoping. You may feel stuck in the same ‘old’ groove but sooner or later you will resolve your difficulties and enjoy life again. When you begin to discover what holds you back then an opportunity will open up for deep transformation.
In time, you will develop a richer and better understanding of yourself, and be able to find some hidden value in the difficulties that you have.
Sadly, there is no magic wand, formula or pill that can alter the way we think and feel. Counselling is no exception.
However, my sensitive, encouraging and proactive style will help support you to develop your motivation and desire for change.
